The work of the Harnessing Talent Platform (HTP) Working Groups has been launched

On 23-24 November 2023, the European Commission officially launched the work of the Harnessing Talent Platform (HTP) Working Groups. The HTP is a newly established platform that is dedicated to support regions in addressing the consequences of demographic changes and mitigating challenges related to the decline of tertiary-educated populations throughout the EU, especially the 46 regions currently facing a talent development trap, including regions in Hungary.

5th meeting of the Executive Network for Family Values

The Executive Network for Family Values launched by the Maria Kopp Institute in 2019, met for the 5th time, this time by ways of a hybrid meeting. The title of this year’s meeting way ’Promoting family values during 2024 events’ and served as a precursor to next year, which will see elections for the European Parliament, Hungary's Presidency of the Council of the EU, and the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family. The event was attended by representatives of nearly 30 organisations from 10 countries.

World Mental Health Day - "Our Souls' Health" workshop conference

A mental health roadshow for 13-14 year olds will be launched in mid-October, announced the State Secretary for Families of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation. The announcement was made at a workshop on "Our Souls' Health" at KINCS.

Speaking at the event on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day, Dr. Ágnes Hornung said that the Ministry is giving priority to preventive programmes related to mental health, and a series of physical and mental health events involving 600 young people will be launched in October.

Older People are Valued Family Members

In Hungarian families, 96% of grandparents maintain some form of contact with their grandchildren, and, in most families, older and younger people get on well with each other (86%). A sense of belonging is reflected in the fact that the majority of grandparents spend major family celebrations with their children and grandchildren (84%), according to the latest research by the Mária Kopp Institute for Demography and Families (KINCS). The representative survey also shows that the more grandchildren there are, the greater the feeling of happiness.

The Inauguration of the Mária Kopp Promenade

We inaugurated the Mária Kopp promenade, located in one of the most beautiful parts of Budapest, among the hills of the Normafa area. Upon the initiative of Tünde Fűrész, President of KINCS, the Hegyvidék municipality renamed a part of Eötvös street, and from today forth it is dedicated to the inspiration of our institute. Mária Kopp was a pioneer of family-friendly thinking in Hungary, she and her husband started the Three Princes, Three Princesses Movement to support the birth of children and raising children.
